“At the time, both my friend and I were choosing between getting NeoGraft or a new car. I chose NeoGraft. He chose a new car. A couple years later, his car has depreciated in value and my investment is growing hair.”

Forehead Reduction

A forehead reduction, also known as scalp advancement or hairline lowering, is a surgical procedure for men and women that shortens the distance between the hairline and eyebrows by moving the scalp forward, and thus positioning the hairline lower on the forehead.

Besides creating a more balanced appearance in facial proportions, but also can make for a much denser hairline, resulting in fuller looking hair. Results are immediate and permanent.

This procedure works best for people who were born with a high hairline, not for those trying to combat a receding hairline from male- or female-pattern baldness. Some surgeons perform the procedure in conjunction with a brow lift (to reduce sagging and smooth wrinkles,) or contouring a prominent forehead bone, which can also shorten the brow-to-hairline distance. If the hairline continues to recede due to hair loss, the incision site may become visible but can be easily concealed with a FUE procedure.

This procedures usually have a short down-time period, with many patients opting for a week off-work to let bruising and swelling subside. Within a month, patients may see hair growing through the incision site, making it less notable.

Scalp Reduction

Scalp reduction surgery is a surgical procedure for men and women to treat hair loss, especially for top-hair baldness who have not had much luck with topical medications that stimulate hair regrowth.

This technique is accomplished by moving skin on your scalp with hair in order to cover the bald areas. For example, skin from the sides of your head might be pulled up and stitched together if the top of your head is bald.

While effective, it’s not an option for all people with thinning hair. Depending on your hair loss pattern and the case of your hair loss, or if you have multiple bald patches on your scalp, Dr. Kanosky may advise a different solution. Also, it’s best to see if Dr. Kanosky can find underlaying conditions that you may have that cause hair loss and thus affect your end results.

Extreme balding in men and women may be treated with a combination of therapies.

For enhanced results, scalp or beard Micropigmentation can be added.

Infra-red therapy is effective on thinning hair, especially in women!

Injury Scalp Reconstruction

Head injuries or serious burns may damage the skin of the scalp, leaving scarred surfaces devoid of hair.

In order to help these individuals regain their confidence and self-esteem, Dr. Kanosky performs Scalp Reconstructions to help these damaged areas grow hair once more.

Depending on the type of injury or burn, the procedure can range from the simple to the complete. Treatments from FUE (follicular unit extraction) which moves growing hair follicles to where they are needed most, to back of head shaping, skin graft flaps, and tissue expansions.

Scalp Cancer Surgery

Skin cancer can appear anywhere, including the scalp.

Traditional Mohs cancer removal techniques can mean large, deep areas of scalp that must need to be removed in order to stop the cancer in its tracks. Dr. Kanosky can safely and completely remove the cancerous areas, then use a variety Scalp Reconstruction techniques to resolve any bald patches that would occur otherwise. A consultation with Dr. Kanosky is best way to determined which procedures and therapies will work best to get the result you desire.

“So glad I visited Dr. Kanosky. His custom treatment solution did what all the gimmicks promise but can’t do: it worked.”

Back of the Head Shaping

Sometimes, thinning hair can draw attention to certain areas of the head that previously weren’t noticeable.

Bumps, ridges, or flat spaces, whether due to injury or congenital in cause, can be corrected with a Head Shaping procedure. A consultation with Dr. Kanosky can address all questions and determine if this treatment is right for you.

Scalp Tissue Expansion

Performed in conjunction with Injury Scalp Reconstructions, tissue expansion is ideal for repairing and reconstruction the scalp.

This is due to the stretched skin on the scalp retaining normal hair growth. Most other body tissue does not grow hair to the same degree. With Scalp Tissue Expansion, large wound areas on the scalp can be resurfaced while normal hair growth is maintained, (up to 50 % of the scalp.) This also makes it a better option than using traditional skin grafts or transferring non-hair bearing skin flaps for large areas that cannot be repaired by using adjacent hair-bearing areas.

Silicon Expanders are inserted into the areas desired in a pocket underneath the skin. Once the incision is healed, return trips to Dr. Kanosky office will be needed for periodic expansion of the expander. It will be incrementally increased in size via saline or carbon dioxide which stretches the skin. This is done during periodic return trips to Dr. Kanosky’s office. When the optimal size is reached, a secondary procedure is don’t to deflated and removed the expanders. Then, the stretched hair-bearing skin can then be repositioned via surgically stitching the expanded flaps into place. Depending on the area, this complex procedure may need more than one sequence to reach the desired goal.
